small gathering at the newly opened double-rinks in the park. what a great idea, to have one indoors and one out, and connected via an ice-path of sorts. genius.
near nothing replicates that joy, and i was very much happy to visit this place again after its long renovation. despite an overly complacent staff, lack of music, lack of sharpness in the blades, and no offer of open lockers so that you may provide your own lock from home, a great time was had. after around two hours straight, i was barely winded.
i used to play ice hockey for almost a decade as a child, and i’ve never lost that sense of awe and whimsy when approaching the surface of the ice, and taking a first gliding length out.
