" known, but unwritten chapters "

keep kind. keep striving and work hard at your craft. it will pay off.

keep generous, keep open. keep on top of your game, whatever the rules, bend and break them; excel at your flavor of greatness, and apologize whenever absolutely necessary. be humble, and be proud of your accomplishments.

keep brave and adventurous.

keep promises, keep a planner, keep and finish to-do lists. make lots of plans with lots of varied people and really make a focused effort to respect the time you spend together. these are your compatriots, collaborators, and time is a precious commodity, so treat it with respect.

keep a love in your heart, a strength of will in your bones, and pens & paper in your bag.

it's going to be an interesting experience, this life in this time, your time...and there's so much to do.

tonight's homework:

thank someone with a true thanks. they deserve it, and you are lucky to know them aren't you?

(yes you are.)

" the sublime anchor "

---

once in a while something very special happens. you note it and take note, no matter how slight or bold to action or circumstance. these are the moments to cherishing your life of making.

the creation and fruition of an idea requires development, sometimes years, sometimes decades. sometimes mere seconds. they are all valid if you see them through, and if the winds are right, if the light quality correct, if you ate a delicious healthful breakfast, if the planets are in alignment, if it is low tide, if so many things.

and when you've got lightning in a bottle, you can tell. when you've collaborated on something so simple and so profound, you know it's going to be transcendent.

these are the sublime anchors which keep you tethered to your craft, and lets loose your stresses as if every ache and pain in your skeleton suddenly exits your body. you find your footing, and the strength to push on.

when it happens, you find yourself standing at the far end of a long pier facing the open water. the light shimmers and folds in on itself as the surface ripples and quivers. you close the eyes of your experience and confidence, and trust your skills as you press the shutter.

" outside the universe while inside the universe "

---

beauty beauty beauty all around. the sun hangs low, and we see these brief moments where everything is in alignment.

you have to stop. you are compelled to revel in the scene. and it becomes so much more than the glimpse of initial interest.

you are moved. you are transported. you are beyond the curtain of reality, and nothing else matters in that instance. you can see beyond the ether; you find solace and fulfillment.

it can be silly things which draw you in, but the pattern and the lines, the way they intersect or parallel, sometimes barely touching which gives some places a near indescribable sense of true elegance.

tonight's homework:

keep an eye out for people, places, or objects which catch your eye. it will change your entire life to behold.

" soul revolution "

---

i've been here before, in many forms, many bodies, and many consciousnesses over many lifetimes. i am the tree. i am the brook flowing through the forest. i seek rivers through the canyons.

i am the animals on the land. i am the deepest oceans. i am the darkness and the light, and i am in each shade of color in between. i am the cosmos and that star matter. i am dark energy and the synapses.

i am the flesh and i am the molecules. i am heat. i am lava. i am the fire which renews and decimates.

i am everything that you are, that i was, that exists.

i am the thought before the action and the impulse before the desire. i've always been here and i will continue to exist long after everything is devoid of description.

tonight's homework:

make today count.

" examples of a man "

---

it's a curious thing, the notion of what makes a man. in my life, i never had a direct instructional on how to develop those qualities which would be resultant in manhood. it was a smattering of observations, learning by osmosis from other men in my life, an assemblage of mimicry, and moments of flexing my own notions.

as i am now, it feels like i'm less a "man-man," and more simply a human. there are most definitely templates, stereotypes, and typologies of what the global man is, but we are all just shades of gray on the spectrum.

we all have the infinite potential for greatness and tenderness, where our mightiest power lies in having the notion, and knowing when to utilize it in support of our fellow people.

the beauty of our existence lies in our bold implementation of our personalities and is recorded by those around us through our actions. what makes you a man then, becomes less important than what makes you a good person.

'' thoughts on a sunday afternoon "

---

strength, beauty, power, trust, these are not the light-hearted states of being and living that the predominately weak-willed inhabit. we try to stay on task, do our very best, and try to do our best by others. it's this balance between the supposed strengths and supposed weaknesses where we find ourselves defining our truths.

at times we need reminders of our strengths, however seemingly insignificant. the aid of a friend in need, the helping of a stranger find their way, the comforting of someone in need of comfort. as in all of the best most compelling actions, it is in the simple things which resonate the most.

spending time with a friend on a walk in the sunshine, conversing about this and that. making the time to take the time to share the space to be with one another. it is everything good with your time spent figuring it out.

each second of each minute of each hour of each day of each week of each month of each year of your entire life is poetry in motion. the navigation of which will be a constant reevaluation of your values, the system of existing in a certain culture, and the amount of which you will dedicate to a measured integration into the lives of the people in those spaces.

i cannot promise that it will always be evident or as easy as recognition of these people, places, or situations, but i will say when it all comes together, it will be nigh immeasurably rewarding beyond even the furthest expectation. that i can promise.

we are beings of vast and infinite potential, and we always do our best.
we flex and preen, stride and grasp, succeed and at times fail. but we will not be set aside without putting forward our best efforts.
laugh in the face of tragedy, grimace in the face of impending whimsy, and flee at the first sign of something too easy.
we want challenges, grit, troughs, dirt. we crave mountains to climb, rivers to forge, dales the cut across. we want a chance to prove our quality.
to make you see that all along, we were right here, and we made a choice to not be unnoticed or unremarkable.
