" you are one of the first "

---

each morning you awake to the world anew. surrounded by darkness or bathed in light, partnered or alone, everything shifts slowly from a dream into the recognizable dream of reality.

find your bearings and ready for this new day, new life, new to all the experiences you'll have. you are going to meet so many new people today, and what do you choose to do with that opportunity?

in each passing second, endless variation of all manner and permutation. there has never been a moment such as this one. it is coming, it is happening, it has happened, it is gone.

what lingers? what remains in your soul? each morning we are very lucky to be able to open ourselves to the universe, and the pleasure is in the details. what will you do today?

merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily, we go along.

life is but a dream.

" beyond the periphery "

---

perpetually moving and sometimes never locating our perspective until is appears. it's so difficult and strained. there is no light through the trees or solace in the silence.

finding the time to sit on a bench and look at the world moving all of its parts around you as you become the fulcrum. everything so simple and transparent. there are the lovely shadows, beautiful dappled sunlight through the swaying leaves of shuffling branches. the silence broken by laughter, the whirring of engines, and the click-clacking of shoes on pavement.

close my eyes and the world goes red and warm, and i'm enveloped by a kind of love which extends and becomes infinite. clarity in thought washes over me, and the way through become more crystalline.

tonight's homework:

get out of doors, and see the world with fresh eyes. no time to waste anymore. go go go!

---

" always in a new place "

---

i'm standing at the river's edge, looking out upon an afternoon filled with infinite possibility.

the sounds of the water laps against the granite pieces; crystalline peals with the reflected  echoes of rocks close together. the ferries pull into the docks, and churn the waters with massive engines.

just out of the periphery, sunbathers absorb dappled sunlight upon the expanse of their skin. a woman shifts and places her right forearm across her eyes; the palm of her hand cupped slightly and facing upwards towards the wide blue sky.

behind me is everything that ever happened, and in front of me, everything that will yet be. being at the focal point of memory at times feels like a sunny afternoon on an island somewhere in the world.

i am closing my eyes gently, and taking it all in.

bright stars in the causeways, bold and shimmering. the advent of a season marked by strength, vitality, an openness to be seen and heard.
we are those luminescent beings out in the world, unabashed by our sense of curiosity, or exploration, or sense of risk. it’s all an open invitation if you wish to come along.
feet forward, eyes open and staring directly into the overwhelming future with one foot in the present. you will see the remnants of our wake, and feel the long melancholy of remaining behind.

where will you be when everyone else is looking at the same thing? is it that important to peer over with the group and crane your necks?
wonderful things are happening, and you’re in the very center of these occurrences. sometimes closing your eyes for a moment, letting all of your muscles relax and rest, and allowing the sounds and energies to wash over and through you, if enough to refresh, enliven, and invigorate both body and mind.
give it a glance, and keep a set distance. there are still amazing perspectives and kodak photo points left of your own choosing.

old friends so bright and luminous, they blow a shimmer of light into my camera.
forever immortalized on a one-of-a-kind, now discontinued film medium, their presence among the active silver nitrate and substrate makes me endlessly happy.
looking forward to the warming up trend happening in between the intermittent rain showers. bright clear lovely days ahead.
