" smmr fridayz "

---

at the very beginning of the very first corporate summer friday here in bklyn, we find ourselves brimming at the top, teetering quite literally at the threshold of the precipice of the edge of the edge, with unabashed and marvelous electric tedium.

it's going to be a dope summer.

tonight's homework:

#skippingspringaltogether

" seasonal dimentia "

i mean, c'mon springtime. a few rain showers, a blush of oddly-timed blossoms, and i'm supposed to swoon?

i want sentiment, not just broad strokes. give me a sign that i'm wrong and i'll walk on. this pee pee dance back and forth between chilly windswept overcast and searing sunbeam with patches of cloud-cover is very disheartening.

i believe i am uninterested and remain unimpressed.

you tried your very best, and with a week and some change to go, it may be time to give it your all, or let summer step in and usher you off stage.

in any case, looking forward to what flavor of beauty may possibly be bestowed.

spring gala at the nyc ballet made more special by the fact that it's the 50th anniversary of the opening of the david koch theatre. amazing beauty inside and out.

one lovely patron, a haute couture fashion designer dorothee wirth, radiated poise and magnetism while waiting in the lobby of the theatre.

only amazing things happening inside the ballet. only amazing everythings. peep it out when you get the opportunity; there is absolutely nothing like live performance.

all-weather friendships weather all storms. whether rain, snow, or sunshine, when you have a crew of peeps around, nothing is ill at ease with the world. nothing seems dire or inconsequential.

it's a powerful and intoxicating way to experience the infinite. camaraderie, lounging, laughter, being silly, tapping into conversational exploration and free-form improvisation, intermittent dancing, and allowing each other free reign to express themselves.

when you find the shortcuts to a form of true happiness, why would you ever choose to walk the paths. amazing times, amazing doorways through the spring to the summer. i'm very much looking forward to it all.

simple things always make me happy. it is in the simplicity of them where i find the most experiential satisfaction, the most visual pleasure, and the most repeatable enjoyment.
delicate dappled window light on a rainy overcast day. no makeup clear complexion calm, being yourself in a new situation.
holding eye contact for more than a glimpse on the street, public transportation, or public space.
refreshing honey hibiscus tea lemonade with just a bit of ice chips.
stretching long and tall into a wind at the water’s edge.
eating messy burgers with two hands.
picking the slender bones out of steamed fish with lemongrass.
sighing in the morning long and true right before getting up.
laughing with friends about the dumbest jokes.
endless, just endless beauty in a simple action, design, experience, situation. we are all masters-in-training and in the meantime, i believe allowing yourself the space to explore, not only releases the anxiety and confusion of attempting to know all things about all things, but creates a living & breathing lifestyle which adapts and shifts positively & accordingly.
sometimes all you need to do is be present, and let the world present its splendor before you as it slowly passes by.

these are the anchors to your well-being at times. these moments come and stick into your memory like barbed fishhooks, or freshly burnished plates newly etched, or drawn scrawl in freshly laid concrete.
not the seconds gone by, or minutes, months, or years passing will remove how it felt at that moment. all the life lived in between, or the pains, or the old friends lost or new friends gained.
friendships made infinite with one smile, into a universe borne out of one fit of laughter, and turns into solid gold in the alchemy of your departure.
many congratulations and best wishes for the many amazing adventures which await you. everything is going to be marvelous.

where will you be when everyone else is looking at the same thing? is it that important to peer over with the group and crane your necks?
wonderful things are happening, and you’re in the very center of these occurrences. sometimes closing your eyes for a moment, letting all of your muscles relax and rest, and allowing the sounds and energies to wash over and through you, if enough to refresh, enliven, and invigorate both body and mind.
give it a glance, and keep a set distance. there are still amazing perspectives and kodak photo points left of your own choosing.

what will be here in these places in 1000 years? will we be remembered and revered, or shunned, or forgotten.
the lost names in memories not passed down through tales and reference. there is no microfiche for the forgotten. what will be our legacies? what forms of expression or art of music or stories or anything tangible?
the technological reality most of us live with each day seems more and more overwhelming or integrated with each passing day. how could we progress in any other manner other than algorithms and stored data?
we cannot even agree on a permanent digital storage medium. everything is open for disintegration, vulnerable against heat or water damage, and exists in a limbo of an unknown outcome.
at times it seems utterly hopeless, but i know that my time here will be long over before we figure it out. may as well enjoy it all while i’m present. everything will change except the curiosity, and i do not expect my own to diminish anytime soon.

old friends so bright and luminous, they blow a shimmer of light into my camera.
forever immortalized on a one-of-a-kind, now discontinued film medium, their presence among the active silver nitrate and substrate makes me endlessly happy.
looking forward to the warming up trend happening in between the intermittent rain showers. bright clear lovely days ahead.

here’s to never fleeing from something, but always running towards something. to finding strange moments within the travel, to riding trains to far destinations, to walking the distance.

you’re always present with yourself, so what does it matter if your feet want to go left or right? eventually you may have the option to choose both, or an entirely different set of options. if time is short, of course you must choose. but what if your weekend is open and free for the scheduling of your choosing?

what elation and opportunity! what raw and unbridled emptiness could be filled to the brim with unknown discoveries! plural!

i’m always moving never stopping, so you be too, and maybe our paths will parallel. and maybe they will cross and tangent into other tributaries. but we’ll have had the great pleasure to have witnessed each other, adventuring in the world, smiling wide with teeth exposed reeling with a sense of such completeness.

on the first day of spring here in nyc, i walked around until i found the ideal image of the day.
it was one of great attraction, an obvious great timing, and of course the choice content.
mid/late afternoon glowing golden light throughout the buildings. we at times find ourselves to in awe, that when faced with utter reality, it seems manufactured.
i was just so supremely content to know that this particular scene was shown to me at the end of a day losing steam.
 what a beauty.
